Situated at an altitude of 746.5 meters (approximately 2500 feet), the City of Mendoza is the capital of the Province of Mendoza. Located about 700 miles west-northwest of Buenos Aires, it is small for a provincial capital, with just 125,000 inhabitants but with over one million in the metropolitan area.
Mendoza is a friendly, low-key city with many excellent tourist amenities (including the Parque San Martín, a verdant jewel, and a number of plazas), all the usual urban resources, and a pedestrian-friendly downtown.

It offers excellent transportation services to all parts of the country, including neighboring Chile, and to various international destinations.
